A fine
Indian summer day in the Realm, and the adventurers make the most
of it. The Elf and Black Knight get up early and hike up the secret
passage and out of the dangerous Octopus territory in Cliff before
the White Knight and Amazon break camp. After watching the sinister
pair leave, the Knight and his long-tressed companion spend a few
hours locating the Pool, and then go diving for treasures, emerging
from the water fatigued but with some shiny baubles for the their
troubles. Over in Ledges, the Witch finds a group of quite lost
travelers and, after getting a look at their ample purse, agrees
to lead them to the Guard house within two weeks. What with all
their distracting questions, she isn't able to figure out just where
in the clearing the Altar is. Fortunately Inigo Balboa, the Captain's
hired SHQ, is able to discover the site behind a screen of bushes
and shares it with the Witch. On his first trip in, Balboa discovers
the Toadstool Circle, which immediately fills the clearing with
Black magic and, activating "Absorb Essence," turns the
Witch into a Tremendous Flying Dragon, much to the distress of the
Escort Party! Spying from the trees, the Wizard takes note of the
SHQ's discovery, but is unable to find anything from the site himself
and stumbles out of hiding as well. Captain Alatriste, off scouting
on his own, is able to pull another treasure out of the deserted
Hoard. On the other side of the board, the Berserker and Druid take
some much-needed R and R, while the Witch King rearranges the paths
in Maple Woods again and, entering Borderland, hears the slithering
of a Tremendous Dragon in the next clearing.
In
combat, the Witch King casts "Dissolve Spell," breaking
his "Absorb Essence" permanent spell. The befuddled Tremendous
Giant appears in the clearing and, gradually gathering his wits
about him, recognizes the Witch King and advances toward the wiley
mage with murderous intent. The Witch King plays a Purple magic
chit to activate "Melt into Mist" and seeps out of the
clearing back toward Maple Woods, leaving the T Giant trashing at
thin air and vowing vengence.
